It’s the almost the season of fruit. The time of year when fresh fruit other than apples and bananas are not outrageously expensive. Here is a how-to for the most difficult of fruits to peel.
This is a pomegranate. It’s the worst. There are delicious seeds inside, but they won’t come easy.
First, cut the top off the pomegranate off about 4/5th of the way up.
Next, carefully peel the top off. The peel will not want to come off without some effort.
This part is important. Cut the pomegranate into segments. The seeds of a pomegranate are naturally segmented usually between 4 to 7 segments. The light-colored tissue will help you see where each segment ends and a new one begins. Cut peel of the pomegranate along these segments.
Now apply pressure until the segments break apart. This will take some effort. Just be careful to not apply so much pressure that to fling pieces of pomegranate across the kitchen.
Enjoy!
