2018 is promising both anticipated and unexpected movie releases. Here’s a few you might want to keep on your radar.
Avengers: Infinity War (April 27): Avengers is the umpteenth installment into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). What makes this one different? Not too much, other than it will have the longest runtime, and feature over 70 characters from dozens of other MCU movies. If you’re late to the party and haven’t seen any other MCU titles, avoid this one. Many Marvel movies do a good job at telling self-contained stories, but Avengers: Infinity War will not likely be that kind of movie.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25): Solo will be the 4th Star Wars movie since Disney took the reigns from Gorge Lucas. The franchise is essentially a license to print money at this point. All three previous movies enjoyed big box office success. Solo will tell the story of Han Solo, one of most iconic characters from the franchise.
Incredibles 2 (June 15): Everyone was expecting a sequel to the Incredibles at some point. The original super family outing was a critical and financial success. Incredibles 2 will feature more dynamics and dysfunction surrounding the super-powered family.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22): This is either the 5th Jurassic Park movie, or the 2nd Jurassic World movie depending on how you look at it. Chris Pratt will return to reprise his role as the dinosaur whisperer.
Uncle Drew (June 29): Movies are based on books, video games, apps, and now commercials. Uncle drew is based off a viral Pepsi commercial about an old guy that plays basketball. Only it turns out he is not an old guy. He is the NBA rookie of the year dressed as an old guy, and really, really good at making buckets.
